Cycle for Survival’s high-energy cycling events require no experience — you can pedal hard or hardly pedal! By being a part of this empowering and fun day, you are making true progress possible in the fight to beat rare cancers. The 2021 event will be held outdoors at the Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club. The event will be smaller in size and strict COVID protocols will be followed for the safety of all participants and volunteers. In order to safely administer the event, we've added an additional step in the registration process that requires each participate to reserve a 30-minute time slot to ride (each time slot will have a max of 30 riders) and there will be a 15-minute break period in between each ride time for thorough cleaning of the bikes. The bikes will be appropriately spaced at the outdoor site.
To join the battle in 2021, follow the two-part sign up:
PART 1 - Start or Join a Team
PART 2 - Reserve Your Ride Time
Both sign ups are required to participate on event day. If you prefer to fundraise only and participate virtually (we are planning to live stream a portion of the event), you only need to sign up for PART 1. More details for virtual participation will be provided as the event gets closer.
This year's event is for ages 14 and up. Kids Crush Cancer will return in 2022.
PART 1: You can choose to become a team captain and start a team, register as a member of an existing team that you've been invited to join, OR register as an individual by joining the CRUSH CANCER PARTICIPANTS team. The sign up to join a team is hosted by Cycle for Survival and this is where individual and collective fundraising is tracked.
Every team needs a strong captain to lead the charge. Simply register your team online by selecting START A TEAM above, and then recruit friends, family, and colleagues to join you.
Team members will register individually by using the team password provided to them by the team captain. Team members who plan to ride in person on event day will need to sign up to reserve a ride time.
Register to ride a bicycle as a member of an existing team that you’ve been invited to join. If someone you know has started a Cycle for Survival team, ask him or her for the team password so you can register.
Select JOIN A TEAM above and make sure to scroll all the way down to see the complete list of 2021 teams.
PART 2: All riders are required to select a time slot to ride on event day. The event will be held from 10am to 4pm with a maximum of 30 riders in each 30-minute ride time slot.
As stated above, strict COVID protocols will be enforced for the safety of all participants. A 15-minute break for thorough bike cleaning will be scheduled in between each ride time. Rider times are as follows:
Cycle Group 1 10:00am to 10:30am
Cycle Group 2 10:45am to 11:15am
Cycle Group 3 11:30am to 12:00pm
Cycle Group 4 12:15pm to 12:45pm
Cycle Group 5 1:00pm to 1:30pm
Cycle Group 6 1:45pm to 2:15pm
Cycle Group 7 2:30pm to 3:00pm
Cycle Group 8 3:15pm to 3:45pm

Fundraising Tips: Together we can ensure that rare cancer research gets the support it deserves. Use the tips below to help you reach — and surpass — your fundraising goal. Asking for support may be easier than you think!
Make a Donation
Together we can ensure that rare cancer research gets the support it deserves. Every dollar raised goes directly to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center to fund lifesaving research on rare cancers. Since 2007, more than 100 clinical trials, research studies, and major research initiatives have been funded by Cycle for Survival. Cycle Survival raised $42 million in 2019, bringing the total raised to more than $220 million.
Thank you for making a donation! Every dollar fights back!
Select this option and search for a team or a team member by name to make a tax-deductible donation on their behalf.
Select this option if you don't know anyone registered but would like to fund rare cancer research on behalf of the Hampton Roads community.
You should know 100% of every dollar raised funds pioneering research initiatives led by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) within six months of the annual events.
MSK has long been the preeminent center for research devoted exclusively to cancer. MSK’s clinicians treat over 400 subtypes of the disease. The discoveries made here benefit patients around the world. MSK has produced more FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of cancer than any other single academic institution.
The funding includes research on these specific cancer types:
Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma
Adrenal Cortical Carcinoma
Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors (GIST)
Germ Cell Tumors
Merkel Cell Carcinoma
Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors
Become a Sponsor
Corporate sponsorship enables us to host a fantastic event to raise funds for rare cancer research. It is not too late to join the battle and sponsor our upcoming 2021 Crush Cancer event! We are still actively seeking financial support from the community. Here's how you can help:
Since May 2015, our local Cycle for Survival event was able to raise more than $1,300,000 to fund rare cancer research. We hope to donate even more to Cycle for Survival this year, but we can't do it without your help!
For more information on corporate sponsorship, please contact Mark Rosenfield at 757-340-1251 or via email at email@example.com
If you can't physically ride a bike, or don't think you're up for the challenge, you can still contribute to the cause by offering to volunteer at the event itself! We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers who can help make our event a big success!
