Ride a Bicycle

Crush Cancer's high-energy cycling event requires no experience — you can pedal hard or hardly pedal! By being a part of this empowering and fun day, you are making true progress possible in the fight to beat rare cancers. The 2024 event will be held outdoors at the Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club. Each participant must sign-up and reserve a 30-minute time slot to ride (each time slot will have a max of # of riders) and there will be a 15-minute break period in between each ride time for thorough cleaning of the bikes. Riders may sign up for more than one ride time if desired.

To join the battle in 2024, follow the two-part sign up:

  • PART 1 - Start or Join a Team

  • PART 2 - Reserve Your Ride Time

Both sign ups are required to participate on event day.

PART 1: You can choose to become a team captain and start a team, register as a member of an existing team that you've been invited to join, OR register as an individual by joining the CRUSH CANCER PARTICIPANTS team. The sign up to join a team is hosted by Cycle for Survival and this is where individual and collective fundraising is tracked.

Every team needs a strong captain to lead the charge. Simply register your team online by selecting START A TEAM above, and then recruit friends, family, and colleagues to join you.

Team members will register individually by using the team password provided to them by the team captain. Team members who plan to ride in person on event day will need to sign up to reserve a ride time.

Register to ride a bicycle as a member of an existing team that you’ve been invited to join. If someone you know has started a Cycle for Survival team, ask him or her for the team password so you can register.

A 15-minute break for thorough bike cleaning will be scheduled in between each ride time. Rider times are as follows:

  • Cycle Group 1          10:00am to 10:30am

  • Cycle Group 2          10:45am to 11:15am

  • Cycle Group 3          11:30am to 12:00pm

Together we can ensure that rare cancer research gets the support it deserves. Every dollar raised goes directly to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center to fund lifesaving research on rare cancers. Since 2007, more than 100 clinical trials, research studies, and major research initiatives have been funded by Cycle for Survival. Cycle Survival has raised more than $350 million!

Thank you for making a donation! Every dollar fights back!

Select this option and search for a team or a team member by name to make a tax-deductible donation on their behalf.

Select this option if you don't know anyone registered but would like to fund rare cancer research on behalf of the Hampton Roads community.

You should know 100% of every dollar raised funds pioneering research initiatives led by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) within six months of the annual cycle events - an exceptionally rapid timeline that accelerates progress in leading-edge research, drug development, and technological innovation.

MSK has long been the preeminent center for research devoted exclusively to cancer. MSK’s clinicians treat over 400 subtypes of the disease. The discoveries made here benefit patients around the world. MSK has produced more FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of cancer than any other single academic institution. Corporate sponsorship enables us to host a fantastic event to raise funds for rare cancer research. It is not too late to join the battle and sponsor an upcoming Crush Cancer event! The volunteer organizing committee is active year-round and actively seeking financial support from the community for Crush Cancer events.

Since May 2015, our local Cycle for Survival event was able to raise more than $2,100,000 to fund rare cancer research. We hope to donate even more to Cycle for Survival this year, but we can't do it without your help!
